Your data
Privacy
You can browse Raaz without an account. If you make one, we store the information needed to sign you in and keep the preferences and places you save.

What we collect
- An account identifier, optional name, email address if you use email or Google sign-in, and the public credential and label for any passkey you add. Your device keeps the passkey secret.
- Your selected reading interests and saved places, if you use those features.
- A session token in a secure browser cookie. The server stores its hash, session dates and a shortened user-agent string. Sessions expire after 90 days.
- Short-lived sign-in codes and passkey challenges while you authenticate. Expired records are removed by scheduled housekeeping.
The website does not request your device location. The native iOS and Android apps work offline without sign-in and keep saved event bookmarks on your device. Those bookmarks are not sent to Raaz or synced with your web account. If you enable daily reminders, your device schedules them locally; Raaz does not receive a notification token for this feature. Opening a source or policy link uses your browser and may contact that website.
Nearby historical site alerts
If you opt in, the mobile app uses precise location, including in the background when the app is closed, to compare your position with historical sites in its downloaded index. When the device detects entry within about 1 km of a monitored site with a story, it can display a local notification that opens that site's Atlas page. The app keeps your alert setting and a per-site last-alert time on your device to avoid repeated alerts. Raaz does not receive your coordinates or location history for this feature. Your operating system and location provider process location to deliver geofence events. You can switch alerts off in the app or revoke location permission in device settings. Device limits, location accuracy and battery settings can delay or prevent alerts; only nearby sites can be monitored at once.
How we use it
We use account data to authenticate you, save your settings and reading list, and provide export and deletion. We do not sell reading activity or use advertising trackers. Cloudflare provides aggregate request and page-view counts for the site; our daily owner report uses those totals and account sign-up counts, not a record of pages read by an individual. Reading interests are stored but personalised daily delivery is still in development.
Services and sources
Raaz runs on Cloudflare. If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes that sign-in. If email sign-in is enabled, an email delivery provider sends the one-time code. Map and story media are served from Raaz domains; following a source link opens the source website under its own privacy practices.
Retention and control
Account information, preferences and saved places remain until you delete them or your account. Sessions expire after 90 days; sign-in codes and challenges expire sooner. From Account you can export your data, remove saved places, sign out or delete the account. The account deletion page explains the web and app path. For access or correction requests, email info@dana.technology.
Changes
We will update this page when data handling changes, especially before remote announcements or native account features launch.
