Acre is a city in the coastal plain region of the Northern District of Israel; the earliest discovered settlement dates to around 3000 BC during the Early Bronze Age. Antiochus IV founded a Greek colony in the town, which he named Antioch after himself. In present-day Israel, the population was 52,885 in 2024. This group consists of Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, and Baháʼís.
