Also known as Via Appia

The Appian Way, also known as Via Appia, is a historic Roman road that linked Rome to Brindisi in southeast Italy. It was initiated and finished in 312 BC by Appius Claudius Caecus. Originally a leveled dirt path, it was enhanced with layers of small stones, mortar, gravel, and precisely fitted paving stones to ensure durability and a smooth surface.
