Bismarck survived assassination attempt in 1874
The 1866 battle at Kissingen, during the Austro-Prussian War, marked a decisive Prussian victory. Otto von Bismarck survived an assassination attempt in 1874 while staying at the spa. In 1877, Bismarck dictated the Kissingen Dictation, outlining his foreign policy principles. The Bismarck Museum now occupies his former residence.
