Château de Montsoreau, FR

President of the Maine-et-Loire department

The Château de Montsoreau is a Flamboyant Gothic castle built directly in the Loire riverbed of the Loire Valley. It was reconstructed between 1450 and 1460 by Jean de Chambes. In 2015, Philippe Méaille signed a 25-year emphyteutic lease for the property with Christian Gillet, president of the Maine-et-Loire department. The château now houses Méaille's collection of the conceptual art collective Art & Language, presented as the Château de Montsoreau-Museum of Contemporary Art.
