Christ the Redeemer, BR
From 1922 to 1931
It took nine years, from 1922 to 1931. Heitor da Silva Costa, a Brazilian engineer, built it in collaboration with the French engineer Albert Caquot and a Romanian sculptor. The style is Art Deco. In 2006, on the 75th anniversary of the statue's completion, Cardinal Eusebio Oscar Scheid consecrated a chapel there.
