Church of the Nativity, PS

The church was dedicated on 31 May 339

The Church of the Nativity is a basilica located in Bethlehem, West Bank, Palestine. Constantine the Great commissioned the church a short time after his mother Helena's visit to Jerusalem and Bethlehem in 325–326. Construction started in 326 under the supervision of Makarios, who followed Constantine's orders. That original basilica was likely built between 330 and 333, being already mentioned in 333. The church was dedicated on 31 May 339. Makarios oversaw the building project that began in 326. Helena visited the region before the construction began.
