Galle Fort is a historic fortified area in Galle, Sri Lanka. Galle is a major city located on the southwestern tip of Sri Lanka, 119 kilometers south of Colombo. The Galle fort was extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century from 1649 onwards.
