Lake Sevan, AM
A 49 km (30 mi) long tunnel
Lake Sevan is the largest body of water in Armenia and the broader Caucasus region, one of the largest freshwater alpine lakes in Eurasia. The Arpa–Sevan tunnel, a 49 km (30 mi) long tunnel, diverts water from the Arpa River's reservoir near Kechut to Lake Sevan near Artsvanist. After the construction of the two tunnels, the water level began rising significantly.
