Modica is a city in Sicily that was largely rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, featuring imposing urban monuments in the Sicilian Baroque style. It is the historical capital of the area that now forms the Province of Ragusa. In 2002, Modica was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
