Mount Kinabalu is protected as Kinabalu Park
Mount Kinabalu is the highest mountain in Malaysia and Maritime Southeast Asia, located on the island of Borneo in Sabah. It is a massive pluton formed from granodiorite that intruded into sedimentary and ultrabasic rocks, forming the central part of the Kinabalu massif. The granodiorite cooled and hardened only about 10 million years ago. Mount Kinabalu is protected as Kinabalu Park, a World Heritage Site.
