Most Catholic daimyo apostatized

The port opened in 1571, supervised by a Jesuit missionary and a Portuguese captain-major, and the trade that came through it brought European firearms and Christianity with it. In 1614 Catholicism was banned outright and every missionary ordered to leave. Most Catholic daimyo apostatized, and forced their subjects to do the same.
