The Pantheon is an ancient temple in Rome

The Pantheon is an ancient temple in Rome, Italy, originally built under emperor Augustus; Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa commissioned the earlier temple on his own property in the Campus Martius in 29–19 BC. The original structure burnt down before the present building was completed by the emperor Hadrian. Hadrian probably dedicated the reconstructed temple c. AD 126. Since AD 609, it is a Catholic church called the Basilica of St. Mary and the Martyrs. The building is round in plan, except for the portico with large granite Corinthian columns. A rectangular vestibule links the porch to the rotunda under a coffered concrete dome.
