Plitvice Lakes National Park, HR
Dating back 6,000 to 7,000 years
Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia. Its lakes are formed by century-old tufa sedimentation processes, dating back 6,000 to 7,000 years, due to the abundant chalk in the karst area. Founded in 1949, the park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list for its scenic series of tufa lakes, caves, and waterfalls.
