The Thirty-fifth Ganden Tripa of the Gelug school
The Potala Palace is a museum complex in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. Construction of the present structure began in 1645 at the order of the 5th Dalai Lama, advised by Konchog Chophel, the Thirty-fifth Ganden Tripa of the Gelug school. Construction continued until 1694, twelve years after the Dalai Lama's death. The Potala Palace was inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.
