Adjacent to the Church of St. George

The Church of the Virgin Mary was built at Prague Castle in 870; in the 14th century, Charles IV rebuilt the royal palace in Gothic style and strengthened the castle fortifications. King Ottokar II later improved the fortifications and rebuilt the royal palace for representation and housing. The first convent in Bohemia was founded in the castle, adjacent to the Church of St. George.
