Abu Yusuf Ya'qub al-Mansur
Rabat is the capital city of Morocco, situated on the northwestern coasts of the Atlantic Ocean. Almohad caliph Abd al-Mu'min built a new kasbah, incorporating a palace and a mosque. Subsequently, his successor, Abu Yusuf Ya'qub al-Mansur, initiated an extensive project to construct a fortified imperial capital named al- Mahdiyya or Ribat al-Fatth, expanding the walls across a large area beyond the original kasbah.
